Security first: why ionBIZ makes 2FA mandatory

The digital world is evolving at lightning speed. More and more crucial processes - from project management and time registration to internal documents - are being centralized in ionBIZ. This makes your daily work more efficient, but it also means that sensitive information must remain well protected. That's why we are constantly strengthening our security, mandating two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users.

2FA is the standard in cybersecurity today. With this additional layer of security, access to data is significantly better protected even if a password were to fall into the wrong hands.

What exactly is 2FA?

2FA adds a crucial extra layer of security to your login process. It ensures that you log in not only with something you know (your password), but also with something you have (such as your smartphone).
This principle is simple:

  1. You enter your username and password, the first factor.
  2. The service asks for a second factor, such as a unique code sent to your phone.
  3. You enter this code to gain access.

So even if your password is stolen, your account remains protected because the cybercriminal does not have that second factor.

The Belgian Centre for Cybersecurity (CCB) states that 80% of all hacks could have been prevented if two-factor authentication had been used. How to activate 2FA in ionBIZ in 4 steps


Activating 2FA in ionBIZ can be done very easily by the admin and takes only a few minutes. In the slideshow below, you can see in detail the steps required for this.

2. Ga naar 'settings'
Stap 3 MFA
3. Ga bij 'general'  naar 'general'
Stap 4 MFA
4. Klik bovenaan op 'resources' en klik dan bij 'multifactor authentication required' het multi-factor vakje aan. 

After following the above steps, the end user will see the following:

Eindgebruiker 1-1
1. Als de eindgebruiker wil inloggen, ziet die deze melding.
Eindgebruiker 2-1
2. Met de authenticator-app scan je de qr-code
Eindgebruiker 3-1
3. Vul de code uit de authenticator-app in
